KUD ŠTUDENT: 50 YEARS

THE CULTURAL ART ASSOCIATION ŠTUDENT MARIBOR

The Cultural Art Association Študent Maribor celebrates 50 years of continuous operation, this anniversary will be marked on the 30^th June 2014 on the main stage by the river Drava on the festival Lent with a ceremonial Academy.

A number of sections operated under the wing of KUD Študent from the establishment in 1964 up to today. When it was founded, it consisted of three groups – a folk dance group, a male choir and a theatre section, which was later revived by the literary drama section. The dance activity was, apart from the dance and sports section, richer for the section of modern rhythmic dance and a group of contemporary dance. The association also had an art section, video section, a large dance orchestra, and the associated vocal instrumental trio Slovenska gruda, former folk dancers who formed the singing group Srake as well as former singers of the academic choir in the vocal group Urban.

Today, the society consists of the Academic Choir Maribor (Akademski pevski zbor Maribor) and Academic Folk Dance Group Študent (Akademska folklorna skupina Študent).

The members of the KUD Študent excel in all areas of cultural production; their work has brought them many awards and honours.

The members of KUD Študent named their anniversary the Mosaic of History (Mozaik preteklosti), which will be a concert of former and active members of the association.

 

The event will consist of singing, dancing and musical performances.
