SLOVENIAN ARMED FORCES ORCHESTRA
The Slovenian armed forces orchestra was established in 1996 and is a part of the Protocol unit.
The members of the orchestra are professional musicians, mostly graduates from the Music academy in Ljubljana. The conductor is Andreja Šolar. There are several smaller groups within the orchestra: the ceremonial orchestra (conducted by Gregor Vidmar), Big band (conducted by Rudolf Strnad) and chamber orchestra (conducted by Fredi Simonič).
Besides playing at celebrations and events organized by the Slovenian army or the Ministry of defence, the orchestra has been playing at charity events, events of local communities commemorative ceremonies. The orchestra was also performing outside of Slovenia – in Austria, Italy, Hungary, Germany, France, Denmark, Belgium, Croatia, Macedonia, Kosovo, Czech Republic, Russia and the USA.
